Movement can be a struggle, especially when you are a fleshy, screaming blob with two large arms coming out of yourself and no legs – which is exactly who you are in Struggling.
Playing either in single player or two player co-op, this physics-based, puzzle-filled adventure game will have you trying to find your way to the Abomination Gods. You are clearly an Abomination, so it does make a lot of sense. Getting there, however, is a challenge in itself. There are many, many other large abominations that are in your way, so you’ll need to find ways to defeat them, avoid ooze that destroys you, and just continue moving forward.
Movement is a challenge, as you will need to move your arms, grip the ground, then work on moving forward again. You can pick up and put on hats, remove and respawn your arms if they get stuck, and generally climb forward. Some objects need you to interact with them, pushing down levers or collecting items, so you will need to plan ahead and figure out what you are doing.
Struggling is very challenging in single player, and plays much better on a controller. If you are playing with a friend, however, you’ll be able to lean on each other, which makes it a bit less challenging to be an abomination as you both will control the same character. This means that you’ll need to communicate a lot, though! The game itself is very fun to play, even with all of the challenge, and it’s great to see more strange creatures.
Over time, you can earn new powers that make it easier, but it’s always a struggle in Struggling. Oh, and the screaming when you fall is very intense.
Struggling is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
